The library in DigiExam is where exams and rubrics are saved. However, the library also contains a number of other useful features for teachers to use. For example, sharing with colleagues, previewing and printing exams, and reusing past exam questions.
The library is located on the right hand side of the web application. The library has three tabs: exams, rubrics, and archive (see figure 1). Exams and rubrics are saved and stored within their corresponding tab. The archive will store exams and rubrics that you have archived in the past. You can visit the archive tab in order to restore any of these past exams and rubrics. You can then edit and start using them again.
Searching the library
The library allows you to search and sort your exams and rubrics in order to locate them more easily. You can type an exam name into the search box. You can also sort exams by title, subject, modification date, and creation date. (see figure 2)
Helpful library features
Once an exam or rubric has been created and saved you will be able to find it in your library. On each saved exam or rubric you will see four icons to the right of the exam/rubric name (see figure 3). Each icon represents a different action you can take, the actions are listed below:
The share feature allows you to send your exam to colleagues and other educators. Click on the share icon (see figure 4) and enter in the email address(es) of the educators you would like to send your exam or rubric to (see figure 5). The exam or rubric will automatically appear in the library once it has been saved. If you edit this exam or rubric in the future, your changes will automatically be updated in their version as well, so there is no need to re-share.
The preview feature gives you an idea of what the exam will look like when it is published. You are also able to print the exam from the preview view. Click on the preview icon (see figure 6) in order to bring up the preview view, then click on the green "print" button in order to print out a paper copy of the exam (see figure 7).
The edit feature allows you to make changes to an exam or rubric. Click on the edit icon (see figure 8) to begin making changes. Your exam will be pulled up and look the same as when you were first creating it. You can add and remove questions, change point values, answer choices, revise notes, etc. Similarly, you can add and remove abilities/skills to rubrics, revise the grading scale, etc.
The archive feature will remove an exam or rubric from your library and move it to the "archive" tab. Click on the archive icon to remove the exam or rubric from your library (see figure 9). This can help you keep your library more organized if you think you no longer need an exam or rubric. You are always able to restore an archived exam or rubric. Click on your archive tab, locate the exam or rubric you wish to restore and click the "restore" button (see figure 10). Your exam or rubric will be added back to your library for you to use, edit and share.
Reusing past questions
The library also allows you to use past test questions by allowing you to easily drag and drop them into a new exam. In order to reuse old questions, click on the drop down arrow to the left of the exam name (see figure 11). When you select the drop down error you will be able to see a list of questions that your exam includes. By clicking on the blue "preview" text, you will be able to view the full question (see figure 12).
To reuse a past exam question, simply select which question you wish to reuse. Use your mouse to click and hold on to the question, then drag and drop the question into your new exam, directly under the "add question" button (see figure 13). The question will be inserted into your exam and you can also revise/edit the question as you wish (see figure 14).
