Grade an exam

 

Once end the exam from live view, the exam is no longer active.  Once you end an exam, students will only be able to hand in answer through an offline answer file.

After you have ended an exam you can now start grading.  You can find your ungraded exams under the "Ungraded" tab on your "Exams" page (see figure 8.1).

To grade your exam, follow the instructions below:

1. Find the exam you want to grade.  Select the green "Grade" button. (see figure 8.2)

2. Select the green “Start grading” (or “Continue grading”) button. (see figure 8.3)

3. Choose to grade by question or by student (see figure 8.4).  The question and student you are currently viewing is highlighted in blue.

4. Grade each question within your exam:

  • Text question:
    • Comment directly within the student’s answer by highlighting a portion of the students response.  The annotation box will appear and you can now comment on or give points to the highlighted text (see figure 8.5).
    • Provide additional comments and summarize your feedback in the box labeled “Teacher’s feedback to the student (see figure 8.5).
    • Enter the number of points earned in the “Points” box (see figure 8.5).

  • Single choice question:
    • Automatically corrected and scored for you.
    • You can provide comments in the box labeled “Teacher’s feedback to the student" (see figure 8.6).

  • Multiple choice question:
    • Automatically corrected and scored for you if the student gets the answer completely correct or completely incorrect.  
    • If a student gets the answer partially correct, manually input the number of points earned in the “Points” box (see figure 8.7).
    • You can provide comments in the box labeled “Teacher’s feedback to the student.”

5. Set a final result (see figure 8.8)

  • You can leave a final comment for the student in the box labeled “Teacher’s final feedback to the student.”
  • Enter in the final score earned.  You can enter in the number of points (automatically calculated for you above) or you can enter in a letter grade.

6. Press the “Back” button in the top left corner to return to the grading overview (see figure 8.9).
